Bernard Terrace Elementary School, one of the oldest schools in Baton Rouge, was initially built in 1927. The school was a local landmark and drew attention due to its history. The newly renovated school, completed in August 2013, remains in a Mid City Baton Rouge neighborhood.
The renovation included a new lobby entrance, restrooms, and a computer lab to improve the learning environment for students. New windows, flooring, ceilings, and lighting were installed, along with improved air conditioning in the cafeteria.
