Tony Clayton Championship Plaza is located at the main entrance to the Arnett “Ace” Mumford Field House on the Southern University campus. The plaza greets visitors to the stadium and provides a location for celebrating the many outstanding achievers and achievements Southern University’s program has produced.
The structure will soon feature bronze plaques commemorating Southern Jaguar championships and athletes. The bronze plaques will be mounted to eight square cast stone and brick columns beneath stucco ring that is 50-foot in diameter. The ring and columns are illuminated by color-changing LED lights which can be programmed to display any colors such as school colors or holiday colors. Within the boundaries of the ring, approximately 1,400 concrete pavers will provide opportunities for any person or organization to sponsor a permanent part of the plaza.
